City of Mist is cool AF. You should check out their next game, Otherscape. It's two books, Otherscape Metro and Otherscape Tokyo. I think Otherscape is better than City of Mist.

Big fan of this system having run Dredd and many others with it. The errata and changes to 1.3 have sorted a few issues and the eons supplements add everything else. The lego analogy is spot on and it's a great and fair review. Personally find it has just the right level of crunch

Y'know, i had an idea for an antagonist who's whole gimmick would be "Action Economy the character" so dervish is perfect for that!

If Grit = Stamina, then why add the additional Stamina stat at all? Why not just simplify it and spend a point of Grit (or gain back a point of Grit) instead? Thematically might help with the meta currency feel as it would be less like "spend a point of Stamina" and more like just exerting yourself for maximum effort. Also in the board game you spend & recover energy turn by turn. In this you only recover it at the end if a tale (which you said could be a few sessions). Seems like that design will promote hoarding it until the big finale instead of actually using it during the course of play? Guess we'll have to play I to see.

Played the quick start and I was impressed how the combat had a balance of "I'm a bad ass who can kill whatever is in front of me" and "oh crap one more hit and I'm dead"

I love hearing the details of the different approaches that we've each decided to take to the same problems. Really awesome stuff, guys!

I am making my own ttrpg from scratch, I’ve only played dnd 5e and Monster of the week, I’m 21, no design experience, I wanted a point spec system for character creation that would allow huge flexibility but still be pretty simple, concept based first character creation, This is exactly what I was thinking lol, I’m taking this for my game lmao
